How much do nano and micro influencers charge on Instagram? (2026)

Every rate guide gives a different number, because each one measures something different. Here's what the main sources say, why they disagree, and how to budget.

Short answerA sponsored Reel from a nano creator (under 10K followers) usually starts at $100 to $200, and from a micro creator (10K to 100K) at $200 to $1,000, according to Later's 2025 Creator Rates Report. On Collabstr's marketplace, the average Instagram deal paid creators $193 in 2025.

Later defines nano as under 10K followers and micro as 10K to 100K. Shopify uses 1K to 10K and 10K to 100K.

Why the sources disagree

Later asked creators what they charge. Collabstr reports what brands actually paid on its marketplace, which leans toward smaller creators and smaller deals. Shopify compiles ranges from agencies, which is why its micro range runs all the way to $5,000. None of them is a census of the whole market, so treat any single number as a reference point, not a price list.

What brands report paying lines up with the lower end. In Influencer Marketing Hub's 2026 benchmark report, about 55% of brands said they pay nano creators under $500, and about 45.5% said the same of micro creators.

Reels, posts and Stories

  • Reels cost the most. Collabstr's 2025 data puts the average Instagram Reel at $288, against $217 for a TikTok video.
  • Static posts cost less. Aspire found static posts run about 50% to 60% of a creator's Reel rate.
  • Stories cost less again. Later's 2026 guide says Stories cost about 50% less than a feed post.

Does the niche change the price?

Somewhat. Collabstr's price calculator lists average sponsorship prices by niche for 2026, across all platforms: $180 for beauty, $160 for animals and pets, and $225 for fitness and health. Its 2026 report also calls beauty the most affordable of the top niches, and athletes and sports the fastest-growing.

What adds to the base rate

  • Usage rights. If you want to run a creator's post as a paid ad (often called whitelisting), Later's 2026 guide says to expect 30% to 50% on top. impact.com puts the usual range at 20% to 50%.
  • Exclusivity. Influee reports that an exclusivity window of 90 days or more can double the fee.

Smaller accounts, higher engagement

Modash's data on more than 84 million profiles shows median engagement falling as accounts grow: 1.00% for accounts with 1K to 5K followers, 0.57% at 5K to 10K, and 0.38% at 10K to 50K. Modash measures this as median likes per post divided by followers, so the numbers look low next to sources that count every interaction. The direction is what matters: smaller creators tend to have audiences that pay closer attention.

How to budget

Five micro creators at Later's starting range is $1,000 to $5,000 for one Reel each, before usage rights. That's a real test, but it's one post per creator, and a Reel that underperforms is money gone.

The alternative is to buy the spots creators don't usually sell. A pinned comment or a repost of your Reel costs a fraction of a sponsored Reel, sits on content that already has views, and lets you appear across several creators in the same niche. We pay creators $40 to $150 per pin and $50 to $200 per repost. Here's how pinned comment sponsorships work.
